If there was one word that could best describe Nick Bernard, it would be passionate. When it comes to Nick’s passions, moderation has never been his strong point. Whether it is his passion for distance running, his passion for consuming entire large Hawaiian pizzas by myself, his passion for movies, or his passion for trying to be a good father to his two daughters, he approaches each of these passions with equal vigor.
Nick started running over 20 years ago in an effort to pass his junior high school P.E. class and he has never stopped. During his running life, Nick has lost the same 80 plus pounds and gained them back three times. Although Nick’s battle to maintain a healthy weight has been a constant fight for him, over the years he has completed 15 marathons with a personal best time of 3 hours and 7 minutes.
Nick is currently beginning an effort to lose the same pesky 80 pounds for a fourth time with the goal of using the fitness gained while losing the weight to help propel him over the finish line of his one remaining running goal; a sub three hour marathon.
